This November, explore the history of boarding schools for Indigenous children across the nation, with particular emphasis on the Lac du Flambeau Government Boarding School. Archaeologist Cindi Stiles will explore the development of the boarding school system and how it was implemented in the Fe University class “The Legacy of the Government Boarding Schools for Indigenous Children.” Particular emphasis will be given to the resilience of Indigenous communities in the face of the continued reckoning with the traumatic legacy of these institutions.
