Mercer girls’ hoops wins third Indianhead Conference game
A daunting five games over a six-day stretch awaited the Mercer girls’ basketball team. They started it off with two home conference games, one of them a victory. The Tigers beat Washburn 45-33 on Monday. Then on Tuesday, the Tigers fell 45-13 to Drummond.
Lakeland girls’ basketball soundly defeats Tomahawk
The Lakeland girls’ basketball team met up with Tomahawk on the road Tuesday night. The Thunderbirds soundly defeated the Hatchets. Lakeland defeated Tomahawk 62-15 to sweep the season series. Julianna Ouimette led all scorers with 18 points.

After winning conference, the Lakeland Nordic ski team set off to Madison for the Wisconsin Nordic Ski League freestyle sprint championship Feb. 5-6. Lakeland ended with a champion.

Strong third period sends Thunderbirds to GNC tournament championship game

The Lady Tiger basketball team looked to build on their win vs. Bessemer, Mich. when they traveled to Butternut Friday night for an Indianhead Conference game.
Butternut rolls by Mercer boys’ basketball
Mercer boys’ basketball looked for win number two when they played at Butternut Friday night. Two scorers made sure Butternut walked out with a win. Butternut beat the Tigers 73-61. Butternut’s Prestin Polencheck and Eayon Wegner combined for 51 points in the win.

Lady Thunderbirds win two GNC games by combined 68 points
Back-to-back conference games gave Lakeland girls’ basketball an opportunity to see their depth in two dominant wins. First, the Thunderbirds beat Medford 74-32 Thursday. Then on Friday, the Thunderbirds defeated Antigo 74-48. Both games were held at Ted Voigt Court.
Defense leads Thunderbirds by Red Robins
Conference wins have not been easy to come by for the Lakeland boys’ basketball team. With tight defense, they cruised by Antigo Friday night. The Thunderbirds beat the Red Robins 51-29 for their third GNC win of the season.
Thunderbirds beat Kingsford for second time this season
The last time the Lakeland boys’ hockey team faced off with their out-of-state foe Kingsford, Mich., it was an opening season win. Now in February, the Thunderbirds showed how much they have improved.

As the season winds down to it’s final month, the Lakeland boys’ swim team competed in the GNC meet Friday night in Tomahawk. The Thunderbirds saw many of their times drop.

It was time for the GNC tournament for the Lakeland wrestling team. They hoped for a top three finish Saturday morning in Mosinee.
