MHLT makes auxiliary agreement with virtual charter school

The Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk school board, on Feb. 23, voted to enter a one-year auxiliary agreement with the Rural Virtual Academy (RVA) charter school for the 2022-2023 school year, with a possibility of the district becoming a full partner with RVA in future years.

Meeting of the electors to be scheduled ‘ASAP’ in Newbold

Vehicle fuel prices in Oneida and Vilas counties among most expensive in Wisconsin

$3.59 was the price of a gallon of regular gas at the Minocqua Kwik Trip as of the morning of Thursday, Feb. 24. Kwik Trip’s price was the highest, with the majority of area gas stations sitting at $3.49.

A 36-year-old Woodruff man accused of physically abusing his infant son is being held in the Oneida County jail on a $100,000 cash bond pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 4.

Vilas County board approves deputy court clerk positions

On Tuesday, the Vilas County Board gave unanimous approval of a resolution creating two full-time deputy clerk of court positions and hiring of people for those positions.

Vilas/Oneida top 10 property taxpayers in 2021

Records from Oneida and Vilas counties show T.A. Solberg Co. Inc. was among both counties’ top 10 real estate taxpayers in 2021.  In Vilas County, T.A. Solberg Co. Inc. paid $97,167.39 in taxes on $6,031,900 in valuation. The company paid $332,146.21 in taxes in Oneida County on $21,139,900 in valuation.

On Friday, Feb. 18, icy conditions on U.S. Highway 51 near the County Highway K ramp in Wausau caused a pileup of nearly 40 vehicles. In the middle of it all was the executive director for the Let’s Minocqua Visitor’s Center and Chamber of Commerce, Krystal Westfahl.
