Virtual ‘Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop’ begins April 7

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Vilas County (ADRC) will be offering the “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” a six-week virtual workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon beginning Wednesday, April 7. Participants will meet once a week for 2.5 hours. 

Forestry history event on Sept. 17 in Manitowish Waters

The Forest History Association of Wisconsin is sponsoring a Wisconsin forestry history luncheon presentation, “Forging Sustainable Forestry 1911 — Wisconsin’s First Forest Rangers” at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 at Anglers Restaurant in Manitowish Waters.

Save the Post Office event on Aug. 22

The Northwoods Progressives and the Democratic Party of Vilas County are hosting a Save the Post Office event at noon on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Minocqua Veterans Park near the Minocqua Post Office.

TOPS Weight Loss Support Group changes to temporary location

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Weight Loss Support Group meets every Thursday at the temporary location of the Minocqua Park Pavilion on Highway 51. Weigh in will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with the meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. Masks will be worn.

‘Night Astronomy Exploration’ at Discovery Center on Oct. 2

The Northwoods Explorers of Space and Astronomy is hosting NASA/JPL Solar System ambassador Jim Head for “Night Astronomy Exploration” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 at the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters.

The BSA Venture Crew 564 will be holding its Fall Aluminum Can Drive in the following communities starting Sept. 26.

Healing Patriots procession through the Northwoods on Sept. 26 and Oct. 3

Healing Patriots, an organization providing therapeutic outdoor expeditions for injured veterans and first responders, is holding a procession from the Presque Isle Fire Department at 5 p.m. to the American Legion, stopping at the Wilderness Memorial in route, on Saturdays, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3. 

Manitowish Waters Lions Club hosts Outdoor Bingo

Earlier this summer the Manitowish Waters Lions Club had canceled its customary Monday night indoor Bingo events for the season due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Vilas County (ADRC) will be offering the “Living Well with Chronic Conditions,” a six-week workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 5. Chronic conditions include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, or fibromyalgia.
