Kenneth E. Angus passed away on September 7, 2026 at the age of 80 leaving behind his high school sweetheart and wife of over 57 years.
His heart belonged to the lake. From his early days serving his country with honor in the United States Navy to his golden years, he was happiest when he was on a boat or near the water. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by retiring to a home overlooking a quiet, peaceful bay on Lake Minocqua and a backdrop to a life well-lived alongside his beloved wife, Royce.
To his grandsons, Angus and Rory, and their friends, his lakeside home wasn’t just a house — it was affectionately and legendarily known as “Water Ski Camp.” Over his lifetime, he patiently, enthusiastically, and successfully taught over 100 people how to water ski. Whether he was guiding a nervous beginner getting up on two skis for the very first time or cheering on an experienced skier cutting through the wake, he was always the ultimate captain, celebrating every success from the driver’s seat with a fist pump. Beyond his love for boats, he will be remembered for his fiercely generous spirit. He could always be found doing chores for others, fixing what was broken, or quietly stepping in before anyone even had to ask. Helping his neighbors and friends wasn’t just a chore to him; it was truly how he loved to spend his time. He had a rare gift for making everyone around him feel looked after and cared for.
Above all, his heart belonged to his family, his friends, and his beloved dogs, who were his constant, loyal companions. He taught those around him how to live fully, love deeply, and always lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his loving wife, Royce (nee VanDerLinden); his daughter, Amy Nemeth, and her husband, Stefan; his cherished grandsons, Angus and Rory; sister, Pam Bollaert and her husband, John, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at The Shamrock in Lake Tomahawk.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) or the Oneida County Humane Society.
May the lake always be glass … you will be deeply missed.
