Wade B. Johnson, 36, of Minocqua, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2026. He was born on November 13, 1989, in Wausau, to Bruce and Gail (Schlais) Johnson.

Wade graduated from Wausau East High School in 2008. Following high school, he attended Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a career as a lineman. He later worked as an apprentice lineman for MDU in North Dakota and also earned certification as a service fitter. Wade recently returned to Wisconsin, where he was employed by Togstad Construction, working as a directional borer installing underground fiber optics.

Wade had a kind and generous soul and made friends easily wherever he went. He was a dedicated and hardworking individual who never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need. Whether helping family, friends, or neighbors, Wade was always there when called upon.

He cherished deer hunting with his father every November and enjoyed spending time fishing with his father and grandfather, especially during their annual fishing trips. Wade also loved rucking and taking long walks with his beloved dogs, Hammy and Stella. He adored his two youngest nephews, Wyatt and Noah, and treasured the time he spent with them — teaching them new things and listening to their stories.

Wade is survived by his parents, Bruce and Gail Johnson of Minocqua; his grandmothers, Grace Schlais of Medford and Margaret Johnson of Wausau; his sisters, Tara Hubbard of Ogema and Melissa (Dan) Fenske of Wausau; and his nephews, Brandon (Hayley) Kariger of Elk Mound, Ethan (Mikaela) Kariger of Rothschild, Isaiah and Kai Hubbard of Ogema, and Wyatt and Noah Fenske of Wausau.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Galen Schlais and LeRoy Johnson.

A funeral service for Wade will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Maggie Westaby will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at a later date in Evergreen Rest Cemetery, Elderon. Memories and messages of support may be shared at www.schmidtschulta.com.
