Kristi Ann Kent (nee Zillmer), 80, passed away on March 1, 2026 in Fredericksburg, Texas. Kristi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Kristi was born in Waukesha on December 7, 1945 to Harold and Wilma Zillmer. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1963 and received a degree in education with a focus on German and speech from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in 1967.
Prior to becoming a mother, Kristi taught high school German and speech in Luxembourg, and Horicon. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, she remembers attending a “very cold game where the Packers played the Cowboys,” also known as the world famous 1967 Ice Bowl.
Kristi met and married her husband of 55 years, Jim, in 1970. They had a wonderful and full life, raising two daughters. They lived in southern Wisconsin for many years, and the best family memories were made at their vacation home in northern Wisconsin where Kristi had spent time with her grandmother as a child.
Upon Jim’s retirement, Jim and Kristi found a new community in Fredericksburg, Texas for the past 15 years. Kristi easily made friends, taking up the craft of rug hooking. She spent her last weekend at a rug hooking retreat.
Kristi loved her family and friends. She leaves behind Jim, her daughters Jennie Kent (Ken Dortzbach) and Britt Kent (Bill Stengl), two grandchildren, Alex and Nick Dortzbach, beloved pets, Gus and Woodrow and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathi Klann.
The family is hosting a memorial at Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg on Friday, March 6, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a celebration of life to follow this summer in northern Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Grace Center or The Hill Country Needs Council, both in Fredericksburg.
