“Betty” Jean Thurston

“Betty” Jean Thurston, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was born on May 26, 1935 in Chicago where she lived most of her life. She moved to Arbor Vitae several years ago along with her daughter, Tina, and Tina’s husband Bryan. Jean was a devoted grandma spending a lot of her time with her granddaughters, Sarah and Catie. They brought so much joy to her life. Jean loved to cook, bake, and garden. She was also an animal lover, always had a dog and would feed everything from birds to squirrels. She was a good friend to many.

Jean is survived by her sister, Helen (late Herb) Learner; daughter, Tina (Bryan) Spencer; granddaughters, Sarah (Nick) Spencer and Catie (Jake) Spencer; nephew Bob (Char) Learner; and two sons Michael and Joseph Kremm.

In the spring, a graveside ceremony will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Woodruff followed by a luncheon. Details to follow. Bolger Funeral Home is assisting the family, www.bolgerfuneral.com for condolences.
