Robert “Bob” L. Anderson, 91, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025 at Milestone Senior Living Facility in Woodruff where he had been a resident.
He was born on March 12, 1934, to Kenneth and Mildred (Fultz) Anderson. He spent his entire childhood in Abbotsford. After high school graduation, he joined the Army National Guard Red Arrow Division. He was always very proud of his military service and reached the rank of Major while continuing to serve in the Reserves.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire where he also played for the college baseball team. In 1960, while teaching high school, he met a young high school math teacher, Nancy Konkol. They were married at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa, on June 6, 1961.
After teaching at high schools in Oxford and Reeseville, Bob returned to his hometown with Nancy to teach and to coach high school baseball, basketball and football. In 1977, they both left teaching and moved to Hazelhurst where they owned and operated Cedar Falls Resort and Campgrounds for many years.
He had a great love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman since childhood. Bob especially enjoyed fishing with Nancy and, when they were old enough, taking his grandchildren out on the boat. He also loved to golf and to watch sports — mostly the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, as well as his grandchildren in their various sports and activities.
Bob is survived by his children, Amy (Mike) Griebel of Waterford, Jon (Kristina) Anderson of Richfield, Karen (Dick) Lee of Minocqua, Joel (Erin) Anderson of Whitefish Bay; nine grandchildren, Casey (Chad) Peters, Kyle Griebel, Abby (Billy) Kuchler, Jamie (Wil) Norman, Niki (Kasey Lisner) Lee, Bobbi (Logan Strasburg) Lee, Isabell Anderson, Rhys Anderson, Beatrix Anderson; two great grandsons Cole and Cannan; one brother Ken (Gloria) Anderson; two sisters Gerry Geary and Betty Wilson; sister-in-law Bonnie (Don) Kreutzer; brother-in-law Jack Siegler, and many nieces and nephews.
On November 28, 2024, Bob lost Nancy, the love of his life, after 63 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a brother Donald, in childhood; brothers-in-law Bill Geary and Leon Wilson; and sister-in-law Kathleen Siegler.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the incredible team at Aspirus Hospice and Milestone Senior Living, especially Mya who kept him in line. Your compassion, kindness, and dedication to Bob’s care and comfort in his final days will not be forgotten.
A private family memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
