Carol Andrews

Carol Andrews of Minocqua, (by way of Chicago, Evergreen Park, and Oak Lawn, Ill.) a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated servant to her community, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 87.

Carol was the beloved wife of Chester Andrews for 62 years, a marriage that exemplified love, faith, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a beautiful family of seven children and twelve grandchildren, who were the light and joy of her life.

Born to TJ and Mary Cassidy from 77th and Indiana Ave on Chicago’s south side, Carol later became a graduate of Mercy High School. Carol carried the values of the Sisters of Mercy throughout her life, embodying their call to “be a person for others” and to serve “with justice and compassion.”

She dedicated over 40 years as a labor and delivery nurse and volunteer director at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Ill. Her patients and colleagues remember her not only for her clinical excellence but for the genuine care and comfort she provided during life’s most precious moments. Her commitment to helping those in need was boundless, and she touched countless lives with her warmth, heart, and humor.

A devout Catholic, Carol’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Oak Lawn, Ill., and later in retirement, Holy Family in Woodruff. Her deep spirituality and trust in God’s love guided her every action.

Carol had a passion for Irish music that filled her home with joy and connected her to her heritage. She also cherished classic musicals, admiring the movies and music of her youth. Her warmth, laughter, and the twinkling in her eye when her favorite tune played will be remembered by all who knew her.

Carol is survived by; her brother Joseph Cassidy (Peggy), her children: Mary Ellen Andrews, Patrick Andrews (Kim), Karen Andrews, Peggy Arguilla (Greg), Kathleen Wallensack (Tim), Thomas Andrews (Megan); her grandchildren: Casey, Kyle, (Meghan), Quin, Cassidy (Jacob), Austin, McKenna, Tyler (Erin), Samantha, Will, Jack, E.D., and Finn.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Mary, her beloved husband of 62 years: Chester A. Andrews, her cherished son: Daniel J. Andrews, her sister Joanne Cooney (Joe), Dorothy Davis (John), and her brother Thomas Cassidy (Maria).

Carol also had many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws that all meant very much to her.

Carol lived her life in service to others, guided by faith, love, and compassion. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with Chester in God’s loving embrace. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Funeral Mass for Carol will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, with a memorial gathering from 10 a.m. until time of service.
