Diane K. Kulczycki (née Tychsen), 92, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, in Tampa, Fla. Born on April 11, 1933, in Chicago, Diane lived a vibrant life filled with family adventures. Prior to Tampa, Diane resided on Island Lake in Manitowish Waters, and had been visiting Boulder Junction area from Chicago since 1939.
She was the beloved wife of Michael C. Kulczycki for 65 years until his passing in 2016. Together they raised seven children: Michael (Susan), Thomas (Carolyn), Bill (Lindy), Jan Lowry, Kathy Borkowski (Steve), Jeanine (deceased 2024), and Dan (Lori). Diane was a devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
After retirement in 1985, Diane and Michael moved to their Island Lake property in Manitowish Waters where she embraced the joys of “beeeauutiful” Wisconsin living. She paddled with her spirited “Yakkers” group into her late 70s, biked scenic Wisconsin trails, and continued herself as a water-skier well past age 70. Summers were filled with laughter on the lake; winters brought RV travels across the country with her husband as they explored coasts, deserts, canyons, and open roads together. Their travels took them to over one-half of U.S. National Parks.
Diane’s warmth and adventurous spirit touched lives from Chicago’s neighborhoods to Wisconsin’s lakeshores and beyond. Her legacy lives on in every paddle stroke across calm waters, every quiet sunset walk, and every joyful road trip taken.
A private family celebration of her life will be held next summer in Wisconsin.
