Michael K. Timmons, 66, of Woodruff, died Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Howard Young Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 19, 1958, in Milwaukee, to Roger and Carol Timmons. They moved to the Lakeland area when Mike was 8, and he attended Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School and Lakeland Union High School, graduating in 1976.

He studied diesel mechanics at Mid State Tech in Wisconsin Rapids, where he met LaVonne Stevens.

In 1978, he married LaVonne in Wisconsin Rapids. They shared 47 cherished years together and raised four sons in Woodruff.

He was the warehouse foreman at Wausau Supply for 25 years.

Mike was a dedicated public servant, having served on the Woodruff Town Board from 1993-2007 as supervisor. In April of 2007 he was elected Woodruff Town Chairman and served in that position for 18 years up until his death. He was one of the longest-serving members of the Woodruff Fire Department beginning in 1976, also until his death. Twenty-eight of those years was as the Woodruff Fire Chief.

He was a member of the Oneida County Board representing District 16 for 15 years until the present, serving on many county committees over his time in office. He was also a long serving commissioner on the Brandy Park Commission, serving since the late 1980s. Mike was also involved with the Lakeland Airport Commission.

Family was the most important thing to Mike and he was honored to be called grandpa and pappa. He enjoyed hunting, playing cribbage, camping, spending time at the cottage on Oneida Lake, and attending Hodag. He loved music and was a drummer in his earlier years. In his later years, he enjoyed cooking and baking for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, LaVonne, four sons, Keith (Alan Scott); Steven (Courtney) and their children Charlie and Jase; Kyle (Melissa) and their children Kaden and Blake; and Kraig (Danielle); a sister, Lynn (Nic) Starck; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Carol Timmons; his father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Louise Stevens; sisters-in law, Ellen Weiss and Linda Sova; and one brother-in-law, Don Weiss.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Woodruff Fire Department are greatly appreciated.

A memorial Gathering for Mike was held on Thursday, March 27 at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff.
