Carolyn Edythe (Haberstroh) Hendry passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025. Her love, laughter and kindness will be so missed. Carolyn was born in Chicago. She graduated from Senn High School and Loyola University, St. Francis School of Nursing, and became a registered nurse. She married Lloyd R. Hendry Jr. on December 13, 1952.
Carolyn’s life was defined by her family, her friendships, and her faith. She had a generous heart and will always be remembered for the love and humor she shared. She and Lloyd spent many happy years together in Chicago, Louisville, Ky. and Houston. After raising her three children, she went back to nursing in Louisville and Houston, notably becoming the nursing manager of the Bellaire Psychiatric Hospital in Bellaire, Texas. Upon Lloyd’s passing in 1988 and her retirement, Carolyn moved up to the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin and North Two Lake. There, she spent over 25 years living life — making people laugh with her cousin Jeanne Heck, welcoming friends and family to the North Two Lake house, being an active member of the Church of the Pines Methodist church in Minocqua, and enjoying all the things that God blessed her with. Carolyn will always be remembered for her smile, quick wit and genial spirit!
Carolyn is survived by her son, Lloyd R. Hendry III (Ray), daughter Susan (Hendry) Sandberg and husband Jim Sandberg; grandchildren, Josh Answorth, Leah Hendry, Lauren Sandberg, Matthew Sandberg and wife Taylor (White), Lloyd Hendry, Shea Hendry, and Griffin Hendry; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Sandberg and Jordan Sandberg; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd R. Hendry Jr.; son, Craig Scott Hendry and his wife Mellissa (Acrey); Ray’s wife Norma (O’Hara); parents, Herbert Nicholas Haberstroh Sr. and Marion Louise (Konrad) Haberstroh: sister, Marion Haberstroh; brothers, William H. Haberstroh and Herbert N. Haberstroh Jr.
