Uwe F. Wiechering, 85, of Lake Geneva and Northern Wisconsin area passed from this life peacefully under hospice care at home on January 22, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born Uwe Friedrich Wiechering on January 30, 1939, in Berlin, Germany to the late Dr. Friedrich and Eva (Thiel) Wiechering. On January 18, 1964, Uwe married Catherine L. Miller at St. Zachary in Des Plaines, Ill.

Uwe started his life in Germany in Berlin 1939. He had a challenging young life as he and his family navigated the challenges of war. In 1953 he and his immediate family were able to emigrate to the United States due to a sponsor in Chicago. He attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago where he excelled academically. He met his future wife Catherine while hiking and skiing with American Youth Hostels. They were married in 1964 and were blessed with two children. He pursued his passion for learning and earned a degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Uwe was a dedicated 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he helped raise money to help others in need. He was a brilliant humble man who was at one with nature. Uwe loved a challenge and welcomed the chance to help others solve problems and find solutions. He loved the outdoors and spent as much of his time as possible outside working or teaching his children and grandchildren about the plants, animals, stars and nature surrounding them. Uwe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Catherine; two children: Heida (Tom) Brown and Erik (Effie) Wiechering along with six grandchildren: Zachary and Alexandra Brown, and Yianni, Katerina, Elena, and Christian Wiechering. Uwe is also survived by his sisters Ute and Heidi as well as his brother Ekki.
