Susan Jo Patterson (née Sisk)
Susan Jo Patterson (née Sisk), 89, of Manitowish Waters, passed away on November 24, 2025, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff surrounded by her family. Sue grew up in Chicago, Ill., the only child of Lyle and Dorothy Sisk. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was known for her skill on the bowling lanes — she could even bowl a perfect game. It was in Chicago that she met the love of her life, Robert “Pat” Patterson, whom she married in 1956.
While Pat served in the Navy, Sue raised their two sons, James “Jim” and William “Bill,” in Manitowish Waters, where she and Pat became active and well-known members of the community. Sue worked at Mercer Hardware in Mercer and later served as the Manitowish Waters town clerk for more than 30 years.
Sue was known for her sass — right through her final days. She was a Badger and Packer fan (one of her last conversations included cheering for the Packers’ win over the Vikings), and her family will forever miss the famous “Grandma salute.” The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many friends in Sue’s life who laughed with her, and to the staff at Seasons of Life Hospice for their care of Sue, where they quickly learned how, for a tiny woman, her strength of mind and character knew no bounds.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Pat. She is survived by her two sons, Jim (Debby) and Bill (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Leslie (Mike), Lauren (Luis), James (Melissa), and Jennifer; and nine great-grandchildren, Samuel, Katelyn, Jacob, Brooklyn, Catarina, Brayden, Tres, Matthew, and Eric.
Sue will be interred at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Manitowish Waters, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Bolger Cremation & Funeral Services is assisting the family. Please visit www.bolgerfuneral.com to share condolences.
