Jerry Lee Allen, 88, of Arbor Vitae, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. Born on January 15, 1937, in Chicago Heights, Ill., Jerry lived a full and meaningful life rooted in service, hard work, humor, and deep love for his family.
After graduating high school, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he began a long and successful career in the quarry industry — a path that eventually led him to California. He retired from Granite Rock Company, where he held a key leadership role as A.R. Wilson Quarry manager, overseeing operations across multiple quarry sites. Jerry was widely respected for his strong leadership, deep knowledge, and the insight he brought to the industry.
Jerry shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marlene. He was the loving father of Jeff Allen, Valerie Smith, and Bryan Allen. He was also a proud grandfather to Jake Smith, Jason Allen (Amanda), Courtney Allen (Aaron), Greg Smith, Mathew Allen, and Michael Allen, and a cherished great-grandfather to Bennet and Ace.
A true outdoorsman, Jerry found great joy in ranching, fishing, hunting, and keeping his lawn green and pristine. He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his generosity, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Herbert Allen; his sister, Dorothy Keesee; and his brothers, Darrell Allen and Wayne Allen.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Military honors will be held immediately after the service at the funeral home.
