Mary Catherine Ohlsson
Mary Catherine Ohlsson nee Hagen, 87, passed away on July 19 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Rhinelander on August 4, 1937, she was the eldest of nine children to Vern and Catherine Hagen (both deceased) of Rhinelander. She met, fell in love with and marred Robert Ohlsson in February 1957. They had four wonderful children Mary Behn (David), JoAnn Ohlsson (Chris Geise), Robin Allbee (John), and Kristopher Ohlsson, two grandchildren Elishia Ohlsson, and Danielle Krause (Tom) and three great grandchildren, Joshua, Jaden, and Drake.
Throughout her life she was involved in her community, her loving nature, drew many of the town mothers to help care for their children while they worked, she showcased her creative talent participating in the towns stunt night events, where she sewed many of her own costumes used in the plays, and later many of her children’s prom and homecoming dresses and Halloween outfits. Besides her family, her second great love was for God and her Church, she spent countless hours serving as catechism teacher, volunteer gardener and part time bookkeeper.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her siblings, Pat Kuczmarski (Roger), Thomas Hagen, and Catherine Hagen. She is preceded in death by her parents Vern and Catherine and siblings Peter, Teresa, Charlie, Jeannie, and Ruthie. She will be missed by many for her love and devotion to all she met.
There will be no funeral services at this time, though a celebration of her life will be held with her loved ones in the future at the Cemetery of the Pines in Boulder Junction.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Special Olympics.
Online condolences may be shared at www.nimsgernfuneral.com. Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
