Betty Lou Hewitt, daughter of Richard and Sybil Stengl, passed away at the age of 92 on March 20, 2025, in Eden Prairie, Minn. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Hewitt, parents and brothers, Jack Stengl and Richard Stengl. Richard was her beloved husband for over 61 years. Betty was the cherished mother to Susan and Jane, mother-in-law to Jeff and Dirk, grandmother to Sophia (Neal) and Anna (Nate) and sister to Jim (Chris) Stengl and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Marshfield on February 14, 1933, Betty was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She met the love of her life, Richard Hewitt, while working for the Roddis Company in Marshfield.
Rarely has one person offered such joy and care on which so many relied. Betty was the essence of joy, love, beauty, generosity and devotion to her family and friends. To know Betty was to feel her support, grace and goodness. To love her was the greatest privilege shared by family and friends.
Betty was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield. She loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Betty and Richard moved permanently to their lake home in Minocqua in 1988 where they were active members of the United Methodist Church of the Pines.
Betty was an avid tennis player, golfer, reader and chef extraordinaire. There was nothing Betty loved more than spending time with family, including nieces and nephews.
Much appreciation to the caring teams of Presbyterian Homes and Services Optage Hospice and Arbor Memory Care.
