Faith Elsie Pomerening Wilde passed away on March 21, 2025 with her family at her side. Faith was born on February 3, 1934 in New London. She was the only daughter of Alfred and Elsie (Grimm} Pomerening. Faith married her college sweetheart Raymond C. Wilde of Waupaca, on August 11, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church of New London.
Faith is survived by her husband Raymond Wilde. She is also survived by her daughter Susan Wilde and a son Frederick (Colleen) Wilde and by grandson Sean (Amanda) Wilde. Also survived by her sister-in-law Audrey Pomerening and her niece Joan Hanson and nephews Glenn Pomerening, Daniel Pomerening and Vance and Todd Pomerening. She was presided in death by her parents Alfred and Elsie Pomerening, and three brothers Donald, Calvin (Margaret) and James (Doris) Pomerening.
Faith attended New London High School and graduated with the class of 1952. She graduated from Stevens Point College in 1956 with a B.A. degree in home economics. Her first teaching position was Arbor Vitae Woodruff High School teaching Home Economics for the year 1956-1957. She taught in a separate building from the main high school building.
The new Lakeland Union High School was being built during that year and the following school year of 1957-1958. She helped to plan and design the home economics department. She taught two years at Lakeland High School. From there she taught 30 years for Nicolet Community College. She taught adult clothing construction in the local community districts.
During that time period she started Country Sewing Center in the Woodruff area. The retail store featured the sales of fabric, notions and sewing machines and sewing classes were offered.
Faith was very community minded as the years went by. She was active with the Northwest Library System board, and the treasurer of the Lake Region Home Economists of Oneida County. She taught Sunday school classes at Calvary Lutheran Church. Was an over 60-year member of the American Sewing Guild of America and member of the Ladies of the Lakes Quilt Group in the Lakeland area.
Faith has a hand in retail sales at an early age, she sold Studio Girl supplies, Don Bar custom-made jewelry. She was a member of the Phi Updson, National Honor Society of Family and Consumer Sciences. She was a charter member and president of the Dr. Kate Newcomb Business and Professional Woman organization and the treasurer of the Four Corners, a local study group. Through her shop, Country Sewing Center, she sponsored a weekly Wednesday night bowling league for several years.
For several years she coordinated the volunteers who made comfort headwear and pillows for the local hospital, oncology, surgical, dialysis and hospice centers in the Lakeland area.
Her hobbies included sewing quilts, gardening and genealogy. She enjoyed being a snowbird at Monte Vista Resort in Mesa, Ariz. for 20 years and made teddy bears. She and Ray enjoyed traveling to Germany for Passion play and Hawaii and Alaska and Caribbean cruises. They also traveled throughout the United States.
Memorial services will be at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minocqua, on Saturday, May 3. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be Saturday May 10, at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Waupaca, at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church, Minocqua.
