Robert N. Bridges

Robert Nicol Bridges, 83, of Ellison Bay, formerly of Manitowish Waters, passed away on April 10, 2025, at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Scandia Village in Sister Bay.

He was born May 13, 1941, in Bloomington, Ill., the son of William and Mae (Nicol) Bridges. Robert attended Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. and graduated with his bachelors of science in education. Bob worked as a math and science teacher for 6th and 7th grade in Libertyville, Ill. and Lake Bluff, Ill.

On August 14, 1993, he married Sharon Morris Grube. Bob and Sharon lived on Papoose Lake in Manitowish Waters for 26 years before moving recently to Ellison Bay.

Bob was an active member of the Manitowish Waters Community Church, serving as an elder and co-treasurer for many years. He also served as treasurer of the MW Lions Club, Northwoods Ski Touring Asssoc., Denim and Dessert Reader’s Theater, Papoose Lake Assoc., and Howard Young Hospital Auxillary.

He enjoyed pontoon rides, kayaking, biking, and hiking in the Northwoods. He loved his daylilies, but deer loved them more! He spent many hours crafting leather items such as belts, billfolds, key chains, and more for family and friends. Bob and Sharon took several biking trips in Europe with friends. He loved spending time with their dogs, especially Ginger in his later years.

Robert will be missed by his wife, Sharon; son, Christopher (Jenny) Bridges; daughter, Erin (Michael) Potter; step-son, Brian (Christine) Grube; grandchildren, Evelyn Bridges, Ryan Bridges, Abi Bridges, Aidan Brown, Addison Potter, Morgan Grube, and Ian Grube.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, at Manitowish Waters Community Presbyterian Church in Manitowish Waters, with Eric Peterson and Chips Paulson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to time of service at the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Unity Hospice and Scandia Care Center for their loving care of Bob.
