Elaine “Carol” Baker

Elaine “Carol” Baker, a woman filled with generosity and a lover of God’s creations, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 88 in Plainfield, Ill. Born on March 6, 1936, in Chicago, to Eskil and Edith Erickson, who preceded her in death. Carol wed the love of her life, K. Donald Baker, married 51 years and who preceded her in death. Together they raised two wonderful children, Scott E. Baker, of Naperville, Ill., and Elayne C. Baker, of Minocqua. Carol shared her love of nature, animals, and music with them. She imparted life lessons of treating others fairly and kindly to her children, whom she loved so much. She was an adored grandmother of Crystal (Dustin) Wensel, Rachel (Richard) Kolev, Kenneth Plimpton, Samantha (Jordan) Snow, and Leanne Baker. Loving great-grandmother of Garrett, Albanie, Henry, Lilliana, Harrison, Clark, Stetson, and Georgia. Carol was a long-time resident of Naperville, Ill. and eventually retired to Minocqua. She worked as the dean’s secretary of Naperville North High School and was an accomplished pianist, who could play any song by ear. She regularly volunteered at the Howard Young Medical Center, helping spread joy and love to all. Carol was a strong independent woman who always made time to listen to life stories of all those around her, sharing in their emotions. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540 with a service on the following Monday, at 5 p.m. at the church.

Interment at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Columbarium.
