Dorothy Menozzi passed away on November 15, 2024 at 90 years old.
Dorothy was born in Bloomington, Ill. and moved to a nearby farm in Heyworth, Ill. She loved making homemade biscuits for her neighbors, riding horses, and sold a bull she raised to buy a piano. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University and studied music and became an accomplished vocalist. When she set eyes on Ronald Menozzi she knew at that moment that he was the man she would marry. They were married for 67 years.
She raised her family in Lockport, Ill. She loved raising her “three little girls.” While Ronald taught at Lockport Township High School, Dorothy was a busy homemaker, terrific cook, canning foods, caring for roses and singing in the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress and did tailoring for a local men’s store, along with sewing for her girls and their dolls. Her love of children brought her work at nearby schools as a teacher’s assistant for a few years.
Retiring in 1993, they moved to the Northwoods in Winchester, where she designed their home on Rainbow Lake. Her new joy became fishing, decorating, fish fries and spending time with new friends. She was a wonderful hostess to so many family members visiting their lake home, “The End of the Rainbow.” Winters were spent in Mesa, Ariz. golfing, bowling and playing cards with new friends. Dorothy was a kind and lovely lady who dearly loved her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Gregory, her mother Jessie Myers Gregory, and brother Richard Gregory. She is survived by her daughters Lori (Kilpatrick), Sherri, and Rhonda (Harvey), nephew Gary Menozzi, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Hospice of the Valley, hov.org. Please send condolences to “In care of the Menozzi Family” to Crossroads Church of the Nazarene 2950 W Ray Rd. Chandler, AZ 85226.
She will be missed by all.
