Boulder Junction town board OKs disc golf on town land
The Boulder Junction town board last week approved the establishment of a disc golf course on town property.
The approval is contingent on fundraising for the course’s construction, which is estimated at $24,000.
The town board also authorized the contribution of $6,000 from the town’s room tax fund toward the $24,000.
Park board member Dennis Duke said a total of $44,000 has been budgeted for the course but the $24,000 will get it put together and operational.
“You have a functioning course at that point,” he said.
The balance of the $44,000, Duke told the town board, would be for items such as maintenance of the course, which would be handled by members of the park board.
Worked into the motion for approval was authorization for clearance of brush and maybe a few small trees for the course, work to be done by volunteers this fall so that it will be ready for the rest of the project to be completed in the spring.
Another provision will be if there comes a time to move the disc golf course from the property for some reason, that can and will be done.
