Joyce Ruth Bauer

Joyce Ruth Bauer (92), formerly Joyce Ruth Guschl, was born to eternal life on May 25, 2024.

Joyce was born to Clarence and Adeline Guschl October 30, 1931. Raised in Milwaukee, Joyce found the love of her life and married Michael Bauer on June 21, 1952. She later gave birth to her children Michael, Debra and Mark. 

Joyce and her family moved to Boulder Junction in May of 1969 to open Headwater’s Resort and Tavern. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and raising her family at the resort. After moving on from Headwater’s, Joyce opened Calico Cupboard. While providing gifts, candy, and cheese to Boulder Junction, Joyce became active in the community and later added The Blueberry Patch to her entrepreneurial adventures. While at The Blueberry Patch, Joyce enjoyed searching antiques and finding the latest fashions in women’s clothing. She was a leader in Boulder Junction creating the annual Boulder Junction Christmas Walk still celebrated today.

Joyce loved her faith, teaching Sunday School regularly and active on the Ladies Guild. During her leisure time, Joyce showcased her artistic talents through painting. Her numerous paintings were displayed in her stores and continue to adorn the homes of her family and others. Every year, Joyce designed personalized Christmas ornaments for each family member, capturing special moments in their lives. She also crafted personalized ornaments for others, creating cherished memories for numerous families.

In the 1990s, Joyce retired from her job to spend quality time with her family, including her beloved extended family, the Schroeder’s. She devoted herself to her art and cooking, hosting family gatherings for many years. Joyce’s family was always her top priority and she cherished them deeply.

Joyce is preceded in her death by her parents Clarence and Adeline Guschl. She is survived by her husband Michael Bauer, her children Michael Bauer, Debra (Michael) Spoerke, Mark (Melyssa) Bauer, her grandchildren Brock (Melissa) Bauer, Chad Anacker, Cort (Angie) Bauer, Cole (Caroline) Anacker, Cody (Agnieszka) Bauer, and her great-grandchildren Alayna, Olivia, Charlotte, Bo and Lola. 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
