Mary Lou Shepski, 77 of Arbor Vitae, passed away on Saturday, April 27 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Even though the diagnosis was devasting news she remained positive and brave throughout her treatment. The disease took her away far too soon.

Ken and Mary Lou were high school sweethearts set to marry after they graduated but that was delayed due to the Vietnam war and Ken being drafted. Mary Lou waited for him to return. Soon after the wedding they moved to the Northwoods where they started a business and settled into their new life. Eventually they built their dream home on Big Arbor Vitae Lake enjoying the outdoors, their family, boating and gardening. After raising her family Mary Lou returned to school getting an associate degree in accounting from Nicolet College. She found employment at Northsound Music and Willow Creek Press where she not only found fulfillment in work but many close friends who she enjoyed spending time with even after retiring.

In retirement she found new activities to keep her busy, some of her favorites were traveling to Jeckyll Island, Ga. with her beloved husband and watching the sunrises, which he had to wake her up to see, traveling and making pottery with her friends.

Mary Lou was a generous and kind person giving her time freely to Big Arbor Vitae Lake Association as secretary, Howard Young Auxiliary as secretary as well as working in the hospital gift shop, Meals on Wheels, and the Red Hats to name a few. She was loved by and loved too many friends and family members to list and will be forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth Shepski, Sr., her children Joanne (Todd) Morgan and Kenneth (Stacey) Shepski, Jr. and by her grandchildren Amber Vanasten, Amanda Morgan, Taylor Marking, Tyler Shepski and Jayden Shepski and by great-grandchildren Lorelei and Logan Vanasten and by her mother Lucille King and her brother Edward (Joan) King Jr. and by many other relatives and friends.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father Edward King Sr. and sister Janis Slazyk.

Memorial service for Mary Lou will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a memorial gathering from noon until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the Marshfield medical team in Marshfield for their dedication and compassion during this difficult period of our family’s life.

Online condolences may be shared at www.nimsgernfuneral.com. Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
