Thomas Edward Butler
Dr. Thomas Edward Butler of Hazelhurst, passed away at Howard Young Medical Center in Minocqua, on March 1, 2024 after a brief illness.
Tom was born on July 31, 1941, in Wausau, to Edward Francis and Catherine Nicks Butler of Hazelhurst.
After graduating from Lakeland Union High School, Tom attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. He then went to Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee graduating with his D.D.S. degree. Tom began his practice in Nampa, Idaho before returning to his beloved northern Wisconsin where he and his brother opened their dental practice.
Tom loved his family, fishing, hunting, sports, the outdoors, and his many treasured trips to Alaska.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, Marge, of Hazelhurst, sisters Mary C. Butler of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Ellen (John) Hoban of New Berlin, Catherine Hogan of Hazelhurst, Barbara (Tim) Ahlering of Northbrook, Ill. and brother Dr. John (Debra) Butler of Hazelhurst. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He especially loved his great nieces and nephews who always brought big smiles to his face. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ann Butler Ayers.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
