Alvin Joseph Kaltofen

Alvin Joseph Kaltofen, 84, of Manitowish Waters, and formerly of Wheaton, Ill., passed away on February 22, 2024, at Our House Senior Living in Wisconsin Rapids, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann (Barber) of 55 years. Al was born September 15, 1939, in Aurora, Ill., the son of Alvin and Lucy (Halsey).

He is survived by his daughter, Kelley DiLeonardi (Frank); his two sons, Steven and Michael (Karin); three grandchildren, Nick (Elly) and Ashley DiLeonardi and Sol Kaltofen; great-granddaughters Charlotte Berg and Josephine Barber DiLeonardi; and by many loving nieces and nephews.  

Al was a teacher and a coach for 35 years at Oswego and Lake Forest high schools and the College of DuPage, all in Illinois. He is enshrined in the West Aurora (Ill.) High School Hall of Fame as well as the National Junior College Wrestling Hall of Fame.

There will be no wake, funeral or event. Rather, as Al might say, please feel free to hoist one in his honor!
