Jo Ann Ohlsson

Jo Ann Ohlsson (Klassen) passed away June 9, 2024.

Born August 9, 1941 in Wausau, the oldest of four children, her family has longtime roots in Boulder Junction and where she met her husband William D. Ohlsson. She was an icon for numerous other families and their children. Her house, as she babysat a lot, was always grand central station, where everyone would check in or meet up. She was always on the go and never sat still long.

After her husband passed away from cancer she became a “snowbird” and loved seeing different parts of Florida until settling in Jensen Beach, Fla. for those cold months, fishing and doing puzzles. Her summers were spent bartending or waitressing as something to do to pass the time. In more recent years, many would remember her from Birchwood Campground where she stayed until the effects of Alzheimer’s became too complicated.

She was lively and certainly a character, always an avid reader, she also loved researching genealogy of her family and the history of Boulder Junction.

She is survived by her son Michael Ohlsson and his significant other Jill Peterson, daughter Kelly (John) Ferg, grandson Dalton Ferg, step granddaughter Paige Ferg, sister Susan (Mike) Hartzheim, brother Raymond (Diane) Klassen, and brother-in-law Robert (Mary) Ohlsson. Proceeding her in death, was the love of her life William Ohlsson, sister Kathryn Peterson, sister-in-law Betty Uhan, brother-in-laws Pete Ohlsson and James Uhan.

Many have their own special memory of her and she leaves them all knowing that she is finally at rest.
