Robert P. Winter passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2024 surrounded by his family. Bob as born in Manitowoc, on May 30, 1950 to parents, Clarence and Carmen Winter. After graduating from Lincoln High School, he went to college in Stevens Point. Bob lived in several places before settling in Manitowish Waters nearly 50 years ago.
In 1978, Bob started working at the McFarland Cranberry Marsh where he was promoted to manager. The marsh was later bought by Northland for a short time then by Vilas Cranberry, which Bob continued to work and became part owner. Bob dedicated nearly 45 years of his life to the cranberry growing industry and retired in 2021.
Bob married the love of his life, Maria, on Feb. 1, 1985 in Mexico and in Wisconsin on Feb. 24 and shared almost 40 years together. Bob and Maria raised two boys by the cranberry marsh.
Bob was a volunteer in the Community of Manitowish Waters for many years informing people about the cranberry industry. He always had the ability to make anyone smile and you knew Bob was a good person with his unwavering kindness.
Bob is survived by his wife, Maria and sons, Christian and Mathew. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law, nieces and nephews who live in the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as the many friends he made along the way.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on June 29 at the Aberdeen Lodge in Manitowish Waters. A special thank you to the most amazing family, friends and partners, who made this celebration of life for Bob possible.
