Kathryn Ann Peterson (Klassen), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on the morning of his birth, December 25, 2023, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Kathryn was born in Wausau, on May 3, 1945. She was raised in Boulder Junction, and attended Lakeland High School where she met Danny Peterson, the love of her life at the age of 17. They were married on October 17, 1964. They spent 59 years of marriage together.
After raising three children in New London, Dan and Katy made the daring decision in 1994 to leave their jobs with the school district to begin a new adventure in Meeteetse, Wyo. They owned Cody Ace Hardware from 1999 to 2021 when they sold it to their son Rod. They built a home in a beautiful valley, where they lived for 29 years. Katy absolutely loved the beautiful west.
Kathryn was known for her sweet, kind and loving nature. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband, Dan, who was her primary caregiver for the past several years. Her children Rodrick, Wendy and Lynn, bonus daughter Kerry and son-in-law Justin. Her grandchildren Alex and Emilie, who helped with caregiving for their beloved grandmother during the last few years, Sisters Susan (Mike) Hartzheim and Jo Ann Ohlsson, brother Ray (Diane) Klassen, brother-in-law Floyd (Marilou) Peterson, sister-in-law Dottie (Leon) Kusserow, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Anna Marie Klassen, brother-in-law Bill Ohlsson, brother-in-law Sam Peterson and sister-in-law Jennie Peterson.
A memorial service will be planned for next summer in Meeteetse, Wyo.
Kathryn will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love and the joy she brought to those around her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
