James “Jimmy” Scott Dahlstrom, 55, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Boulder Junction. He was born June 13, 1968 in Elmwood Park, Ill. and lived his childhood in Naperville, Ill. with his father, mother and older brother. Jimmy and his family spent countless days during the summer and winter months in their Boulder Junction lake home starting when Jimmy was just nine years old. He enjoyed boating, fishing, dirt biking, and snowmobiling, and engaging in typical young boy shenanigans with his brother and friends.
Jimmy began his salesman career at his father’s business in Bensenville, Ill. where he shared his father’s joy of traveling to Boulder Junction with clients. He developed wonderful friendships over the years participating in this tradition. He continued to travel north seasonally and eventually set roots in Boulder Junction in 2007 and within a couple years became the town’s beloved, local bartender.
Jimmy held all sorts of nicknames including “Farmer Jimmy” of the Outdoorsman where he tended to goats, chickens, and bunnies. It was noted as a happy time in his life where he shared his love for his animals with everyone. Jimmy was a fantastic raffle salesman and was known to make a pitch to every lucky snowmobiler that walked in the door. Many would take notice of his “miracle on ice” fishing shanty that had a very successful debut rookie season on Fish Trap Lake.
Jimmy was an avid Nascar fan and helped organize the local Nascar racing league. Team “Bunker Down Racing” had its share of possessions of the “Schaff” winners trophy and successfully avoided the “Sacko” for many, many years.
Jimmy loved taking local rides with friends on his Fatboy Harley. He is remembered as a great entertainer hosting many sports parties in his Illinois home. He held his ground as a die-hard Chicago Bears fan living in Wisconsin and could always be counted on for a hearty “Yo!” at every greeting.
Jimmy was also commended on many occasions helping others in need, most recently when he rushed a friend in medical crisis to EMT care. He was the most thoughtful and helpful human being.
Jimmy truly led the life he planned for himself with abundant love for nature, animals, and the outdoors. He lived life through notable adventure, fierce friendship and deep love for family, leaving behind a legacy of a lifetime of memories filled with laughter and love for all who knew him.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother Susan Dahlstrom (2020) and father Theodore Dahlstrom (2021). He is survived by his brother Michael (Prudence), of Grayslake, Ill., and nephews Mark and Jack.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on March 9, at Gooch’s 2, 6215 County Highway M, Boulder Junction, starting at noon. Additional information can be found at www.bolgerfuneral.com.
