Cynthia “Cindi” Ann (Kasten) Dooley, age 78 of Hazelhurst, passed away on Friday, December 6, at her residence with her family by her side after losing a battle to Alzheimer’s. Cindi was born on January 28, 1946, in Watertown, to Orville and Rosella Kasten. She was married to James W. Behling on October 28, 1967, in Lake Mills, until James passed away on June 28, 2008. Cindi found true love again remarrying on October 1, 2012, in Minocqua, to Sylvester “Sonny” Dooley Jr.

Cindi graduated from Lake Mills High School in Lake Mills in 1964. Cindi went on to attend St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison, graduating in 1967 with a nursing degree. While married with three children and working full time as a registered nurse in Hartford, Cindi went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in nursing graduating from Milton College in Milton in 1980. Cindi worked as a registered nurse as both a hospital nurse and various clinics since obtaining her nursing degree in 1967 until retiring well over three decades later.

Cindi was a wonderful wife, wonderful mother of three children, and wonderful grandmother of six grandchildren. Cindi was loved by family and friends. She was very kind and caring. Cindi loved to spend time with family and friends, loved to travel, enjoyed being in bible study groups and prayer chains for many years, and very much-loved spending time with Sonny and their dog Zach.

Survivors include her husband, Sonny Dooley; her children, Jamie Behling, Tammy (James) Bird, and Timothy Behling; her grandchildren, Lauren Bird, Marcus Bird, Trevor Bird, Jackson Behling, Samatha Behling, and Nicholas Behling; her sisters, Marcia (Richard) Blane, Patricia (Richard) Schraufnagel, and Linda (Howard) Straub; other relatives, and many friends.

Preceding her death are her father, Orville Kasten, her mother, Rosella Kasten, her former spouse, James Behling, and her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Behling.

As we celebrate Cindi’s life, we will remember the many years of her caring, love, and kindness. She will continue to live on in our hearts for those that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be missed by many and not forgotten.

Here is a bible quote we’d like to include in remembrance of Cindi’s life: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Visitation for Cindi will take place on Saturday, December 21, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Szymik and Rev. Gary Szymik officiating. Burial will take place at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Hazelhurst.

Online condolences for the family may be directed to www.nimsgernfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sonny Dooley would be appreciated.

Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
