Jaennine “Jean” Marie Byczek, 67, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Service.
Jean was born in Menomonee Falls, on April 3, 1957, to Jack Richard and Joan Elsie (Joecks) Alonso. She was raised in Sussex, where she attended Sussex public schools. Jaennine was a free spirit and lived in various areas of the country, eventually settling in Manitowish Waters. While living in Manitowish Waters, Jean managed the Cozy Cove Bar & Restaurant for her parents. She met the love of her life Gerald Wagner in 1987 and the two were inseparable ever since.
Jaennine enjoyed laughing, dancing and telling a good story. She loved the Green Bay Packers and attending games when she could. She had a passion for cooking and also found joy in crocheting, cross stitching, and diamond art.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Shannon (Scott) Baumann of Summerville, S.C., Adena (Eric) Hinz of Rosemount, Minn., stepchildren, Jason Wagner of Omaha, Neb., Jarread Wagner of Ironwood, Mich., grandchildren, Connor, Colin, Colton, Henry and Leo, one step-granddaughter, Rowan Wagner, siblings, Jack (Michelle) Alonso of Rhinelander, and Joey (Kathie) Alonso of Punta Gorda, Fla., and her beloved four-legged companion “Stella.” Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Joan Alonso, and the love of her life, Gerald Wagner on Nov. 19, 2022.
The visitation for Jaennine will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home, from 10:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. Memorial service. chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate.
