Rosemary (VanderLoop) Mitchler, 86 passed away with her family by her side on August 8. She was born in Appleton, on March 11, 1938 to John Vander Loop and Irene (Williams) Vander Loop.

She grew up in a small home just down the street from the Catholic school she attended. She graduated salutatorian but chose to forgo college and instead marry her high school sweetheart, John (Jack) Mitchler. Jack was in the U.S. Army and soon deployed to Germany. Within the year, she followed him so that she could be with him for the birth of their son, Jeffery. After they returned to Wisconsin, two girls followed in short order and by the time she was 23 she had three small children at home.

Her careers included raising children, PTO, church lady roles of all sorts, the welcome wagon lady, secretarial pool and finally head secretary at Consolidated Paper Company.

Jack and Rosemary retired early and moved to Minocqua to enjoy the good life. They quickly made their home here, cultivated friends and became a part of the Catholic Church community. She had 29 years here and 19 of them with Jack. She had a joyful life and lived it fully with friends and family. Lately, she was often heard to comment that she was ready to go be with Jack. It was a sudden health issue that made her wishes come true. Every member of her clan was able to come home to her side and hold her hand during her final days. We consider ourselves to be blessed to be her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by children: Jeff (Sandy) Mitchler, Susan Mitchler, and Cathy (Dan) Hein. Grandchildren: Tara (David) Mitchler-Lehrer, Tamara Meilke, Leah (Jeff) Hein-Houghton, Lexie Hein, Jacob (Misty) Mitchler, Celesté Teichmiller and Alysse Teichmiller. Great grandchildren: Alyza Mitchler, Phoenix Zwiers, Karli Lehrer, Maylahni Zwiers, Jaden Revoir, Vivian Houghton, John Mitchler, Isabel Houghton, Henry Mitchler, Skarlett Houghton, Jacob Mitchler and Archer Mitchler. Sister: Judy (Dick) Bauer. In-laws: Dorothy Mitchler, Sharlene Rainville, Daniel (Joann) Mitchler, Jesse Jarat, Marilyn (Jerry) Vander Pas and Barbara Mitchler. She was preceded in death by John Mitchler and her parents.

Funeral Mass for Rosemary will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Holy Family Catholic Church with a lunch to follow.

Memorial donations can be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Ronald McDonald House Charities in Eastern Wisconsin or the Arbor Vitae Fire and Rescue.
