Richard Peter Holm

Richard Peter Holm, 84, of Manitowish Waters, went to be with his Lord, on September 23, 2023, surrounded by family.

Richard was born the youngest of three sons to Ruth and Thomas Holm in Chicago, on April 19, 1939. The family moved to Springstead, when Richard was a young boy, where he grew up loving the Northwoods and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Richard worked as a merchant marine for over 40 years, both on the Great Lakes and on ocean liners. He loved sharing stories about his travels throughout the world. When he was off the ship, Richard enjoyed playing cribbage with his wife, Cheryl, and their friends. He loved living next door to a resort where he always had new people to talk to and share stories with. Richard especially loved working around his yard and spending time with his family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Thomas and Arthur. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cheryl; their daughter, Emily (Tom) Neville; stepchildren, Dean (Andrea) Saari, Chad (Becky) Saari, David (Jackie) Saari, Paul (Holly) Saari, and Norma (Ryan) Johnson; as well as 22 grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Sarah, Abigail, Stephen, Jacob, Joshua, Josie, Jadyn, Gary, Lauren, Ella, Kara, Lilly, Lydia, Isabel, Owen, Greta, Gabriel, Henry, Eliana, and Annika.

A service will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Woodruff. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. and luncheon to follow. Bolger Cremation & Funeral Services is assisting the family, www.bolgerfuneral.com for condolences.
