Christopher (Chris) D. Kemnitz, 78, of Minocqua passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2023.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Kemnitz (Diane) and Christopher Kemnitz (Becky) and grandchildren, Rebecca, Karl, and Sarah Kemnitz, Jenny, Diana, and Daniel Kemnitz-Meyerson; step-granddaughters, Laura Vanden Langenberg (Sam) and Anna Ellis (Tatum), and by her brothers, Bob and Greg Sebbo, Pat Leach and sister, Liz Leach, and brother and sister-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.
Chris was predeceased by her father and mother, Robert N. Sebbo and Elizabeth Leach, her sister, Kate Swanson, daughter-in-law Ellen Kemnitz (Tony) and her beloved husband and partner of over sixty years, Anthony F. Kemnitz.
She was born at the Long Beach Naval Hospital in California on April 3, 1945. As a young girl, Chris grew up in a Navy household, moving across the country and living in Southern California and Texas. Eventually she spent her teen years in Milwaukee, where she met her husband and love of her life, Tony Kemnitz. As a young woman Chris modeled; she also trained and worked as a pharmacy technician at the New Berlin Hospital and Walmart Pharmacy in Minocqua. She raised her family in Mukwonago, and was a Cub Scout den leader and held various other jobs from working as a crossing guard to waitressing. Chris and her husband retired to Woodruff in the early 2000s where they lived out their dream of building a home in the Northwoods and fishing as much as possible. She enjoyed travelling, especially in the southwest United States where she visited her father and spent time with her sister Kate.
Chris was known for her wit and kindness and for being extremely organized. She enjoyed many hobbies in her lifetime including needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, reading, fishing, snowmobiling and art. She also had a beautiful singing voice.
With her husband Tony, Chris built over half a dozen houses from the basement up. Her energy and love of life were an inspiration to all who knew her. She always had her door open for friends and offered coffee, advice, and understanding. Her kindness and big heart will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life is being planned for close family this coming spring.
