William Louis Fehlandt, 68, of Boulder Junction, passed away peacefully at his home on September 7, 2023 surrounded by his family. Bill was born on December 2, 1954 in Wausau, to William and Doris (Parkin) Fehlandt. Bill grew up in Wausau, graduated from Wausau East High School, and attended University of Colorado-Boulder and University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed a carpenter apprenticeship program and worked as a union carpenter until his retirement.

After spending his childhood vacationing at his family’s cottage on Trout Lake, he decided that was where he wanted to raise a family. He purchased the property next door to the family cottage and built his own home. Bill married Susan (Grasse) Fehlandt in 1986 and had two daughters, Alice (Caleb) Kleinhans and Rebecca (David) Bartling. Bill was a devoted family man and loved having his girls living near him in the Northwoods.

Bill loved being outdoors; fishing in Canada, golfing at Trout Lake Golf Course, waterskiing behind the red Century, and tele skiing on a fresh powder day. His love for skiing began at Rib Mountain as a child and became a lifelong passion, including being a PSIA ski instructor. Local skiing found him at Minocqua Winter Park, WinMan Trails, Indianhead Mountain, and Mount Bohemia. Every family vacation pointed west to the slopes of Colorado, Utah, or Montana.

Bill is survived by his wife; daughters; grandchildren, William and Aaron Kleinhans, and Lucy and Ford Bartling; mother, Doris Fehlandt; sister, Jessica Fehlandt; sister-in-law, Cynthia Fehlandt; many nieces and nephews; cousins, Carin (Jeremy) Leininger and Jill Jaecks. He was preceded in death by his father, William Fehlandt; brother, Timothy Fehlandt; aunt, Sandy Parkin; brother-in-law, Alan Hastreiter.

A special thanks to Bill and Bonnie Spear, Brian and Karen Schmeling, and Compassus (Kitty and Jillian). Bill was able to remain in his home with their devoted care.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Minocqua Winter Park or Boulder Junction Community Foundation.
