LeRoy Plourd, 73, a resident of Arbor Vitae, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 16, 1950 to Ray and Eleanor Plourd in Berkeley, Ill. In 1964 his family relocated to Minocqua. He graduated from Lakeland Union High School in 1968.
LeRoy married the love of his life, Carol Plourd, on November 9, 1974. Together, they enjoyed traveling the states with Arizona and Montana being a couple of their favorites. Over the years they shared their life with many loved dogs, completing their little family.
LeRoy had many hobbies. In his spare time he worked on model kits, tinkered with cars, and enjoyed woodworking and restoring vintage gas pumps. He proudly supported his wife Carol in all of her crafting adventures.
LeRoy was a bit of a loner at times and often preferred the quiet of his home and spending time with Carol. His family describes him as a caring, happy man who was always ready for an adventure. He loved to tell stories of the past and could remember every little detail like it was yesterday.
LeRoy was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carol, and their dogs, Kita and Harry; parents Ray and Eleanor Plourd; brother, Richard Plourd; father-in-law, Murill Dahm; mother-in-law, Eleanor Dahm; and sister-in-law, Patricia Dahm. LeRoy is survived by his siblings, Angela Arndt and Dennis (Susan) Plourd; nieces Sarah (Robert) Lupori and Corinne (Joshua) Connan. He also leaves behind four great-nieces and nephews on his side.
On his wife Carol’s side of the family he is survived by his sister-in-law, Susan (Larry) Kutschenreuter; brother-in-law, James (Catherine) Dahm; nephews and niece, Jacob (Jennifer) Kutschenreuter, Joseph (Danielle) Kutschenreuter, Michael Dahm, Brittany (Michael) Curtis, and Bradley (Melisa) Dahm. He also leaves behind seven great-nephews.
At this time there will be no services. The family will celebrate LeRoy’s life at a later date privately. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name can be made to your local animal shelter.
