Arthur G. Longhorn, 88, of Elkhorn, died on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Oconomowoc. Son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Cullen) Longhorn, Art was born on July 7, 1935, in New Diggins. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1957 until 1962, before attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Art was a public school teacher for 33 years who dedicated his career to shaping young minds and inspiring future generations. On June 11, 1966, Art was united in marriage to Joan L. Berry, a fellow school teacher. An avid fisherman throughout his entire life, Art enjoyed spending summers for the past 30 years at his home in Manitowish Waters where he would relax and go fishing with his family. He also held a private pilot’s license for 15 years and owned and operated three airplanes. Art liked the simple pleasures in life, like a good cup of McDonald’s coffee. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a good friend and neighbor. Art had a great sense of humor and was well loved by all who knew him. Art is survived by his sons, David (Kelli) Longhorn and Kevin Longhorn; and his grandchildren, Josie (Nicholas), Ellie, Riley, Tyler, Lindsey, Kyle, Sarah, and Katie. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan Longhorn; and sister, Phyllis Blanc. In honoring Art’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. A private burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Online condolences at haaselockwoodfhs.com. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory are honored to serve the Longhorn family.
