Robin Chess

Robin Chess (nee Horne) formerly of Waukegan, Ill. currently of Pike Lake Chain, Park Falls, peacefully left this world on September 28, 2023.

Robin was born July 10, 1944, in Perth, Australia to Robert & Zelma Horne. She attended Convent of Mary Immaculate Grade School in Key West, Fla. and Waukegan High School in Waukegan, Ill. Robin married Frank Chess, Jr. on October 5, 1963, established a home in Waukegan and enjoyed a successful career as a systems analyst in the information technology sector until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, Robin was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chess, Jr.; grandson Nathaniel Grimes, in-laws Frank Sr. and Dora Chess, sister Margaret and brother Patrick.

Robin is survived by her children, daughter Kimberly Chess, son Kenneth (Georgia) Chess; grandchildren Kenneth Miller, Francesca Grimes, Isabel Grimes, Katarina Chess, and Sophia Chess; brothers, Philip (Diane) Horne and Trevor (Greta) Horne; sister, Daphne (Joey Marocco) Pilotte; sister-in-law, Sharee Horne; brother-in-law Joseph (Sandy) Chess; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services in the Northwoods to be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lac du Flambeau. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date in Illinois.
