Mildred M. Tuttle

Mildred M. Tuttle 1938-2023.

Batavia, Ill. formerly of Minocqua, and St. Charles, Ill. Musician and retired elementary school teacher Mildred Tuttle’s (nee Ericson) love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Millie passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the age of 85 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Millie completed her bachelor’s degree at the Chicago Teachers College (Chicago State University). After teaching in the St. Charles school district for many years, she attended National Louis University and earned her master’s degree. Her pride was in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning with hundreds of children over the years.

The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was always ready for a new adventure and never lost her love for learning new things. As devoted to her faith as she was, she always found ways to be of service to others. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua, where she enjoyed playing the hand bells, making prayer shawls and quilts. She found happiness in her many daily activities, such as line dancing, water aerobics playing piano and her hammer dulcimer and the many organizations she took part in such as the AAUW and the food pantry just to name a few. Her love of the outdoors kept her busy with friends kayaking, cross country skiing, and biking. Everywhere she went, she ran into people she knew from all the activities she was involved in.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, whom she just celebrated her 64th anniversary; two daughters, Patty Andrews (Michael) and Jennifer Jackson (Harvey); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Matilda Ericson; her mother and father-in-law, Lynn and Jane Tuttle; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and June Ericson.

Any memorial donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia (https://www.lbda.org/) or the Parkinson’s Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org/).
