Michael George Gregory, 63 of Lake Tomahawk, passed away peacefully the morning of November 8, 2023 after a sudden and aggressive battle with cancer. He was at his home surrounded by his wife of 40 years, Julie Gregory (nee Bramm), and children Adam Bramm (spouse Albert Guarnieri), David Gregory, Laura McGill (spouse Gaige McGill), and new grandson, Del.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Donald Gregory; mother, Mary Ellen Gregory; brother Jimmy and sister Dona. He will be remembered always by his surviving immediate family; his brother, Allen (Colette) Gregory; his sister, Sue Anne (Kerry) Marciniak; and his 16 nieces and nephews.
Mike was born in Milwaukee, on November 13, 1959. He moved to the Northwoods as a child and graduated from Lakeland Union High School in 1978 where he played baseball (named conference MVP), football, and wrestled. Just this summer reminding us that he had a near undefeated wrestling record. Legend also has it that the potholes on HWY 70 near the Lakeland Ballpark are Mike’s many home runs.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake Tomahawk where he built numerous area homes with his father and brother as Gregory Builders. He was a talented woodworker; his most recent project was a cradle for his grandson. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time out on his land, hunting and fishing any chance that he had. He also played in various area softball leagues as well as playing Lake Tomahawk Snowshoe Baseball. Mike enjoyed fish fry on Fridays, giving and receiving gifts, giving people nicknames, and just going out for a drive. He always took the long way home from vacations (and Menards) just to make the drive a little longer.
Mike will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them. Mike was quiet, showing love to his family, friends, and neighbors through acts of service.
Memorial service for Mike will be held at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. There will be a visitation held before the service from noon to 3 p.m. The family encourages you to wear your Gregory Builders gear, Green Bay Packers shirts, or camo to the service.
