Linn A. White, 71, of Green Bay and Woodruff, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at a local care facility following complications of ALS. She was born on February 22, 1952, in Milwaukee, to the late Alan and Patricia (Dybalski) Engler. Linn was a graduate of Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids. She continued her education at UW-Stevens Point, eventually receiving her master’s from Marion University. Linn worked at Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Grade School for many years as a librarian, computer teacher and later a middle school social studies teacher. She loved her house on Crescent Lake and would speak of it often. She taught religion at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Woodruff and was on the board responsible for building the Lakeland Ice Arena. She also spent a lot of time with a close group of friends, first as a walking group and later as quilters. She was a wonderful seamstress and could make almost any clothing from scratch. ALS took away many of these hobbies, but it didn’t take away her spirit. She worked with the MDA to raise funds and awareness for ALS and other muscle diseases. She was also passionate about human rights and wrote to many politicians about her concerns. In her later years at Autumn’s Promise, she enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, watching the Packers, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Linn loved education and was named the Lakeland Rotary Club’s Educator of the year in 1995.

She genuinely enjoyed being around young people. Everywhere she went she was able to connect with people and everyone who knew her came away a better human being. She was also a lifelong lover of traveling. As a child Linn would take long summer vacations with her family all over the country and she continued this tradition with her daughter and friends.

Linn is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Bryan) Olson, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Annabelle, Alexandra and Charlotte; her brother Donald (Sandi) Engler, Las Vegas; her former husband, William White, Arbor Vitae; nephew, Christopher (Alissa) Engler; niece, Stefanie (Joe) Brock; great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home in Green Bay, 1630 E. Mason St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, 8950 Cty Hwy J, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Farrell officiating. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Woodruff.
