LaVerne “Sarge” C. Wallace

LaVerne “Sarge” C. Wallace, 94, a resident of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023. Born March 21, 1929, in Ely, Minn. to parents Lee and Mary Blair. Sarge graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee, and later worked for the Milwaukee Public School System. Married Thomas E. Wallace on October 14, 1950.

Sarge was known for her jokes, storytelling, and bringing laughter to any party. She was a fierce lover of sports, especially women’s softball, and watching her grandchildren play. She was an avid card player. Most importantly, she always stood up for her beliefs and convictions.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Robert Blair, Thomas Blair, Beverly Harris; grandson: Elliot Wallace; Ex-spouse: Thomas E. Wallace. Her spirit lives on through her children: Michael (Jola) Wallace, Patrick (Nancy) Wallace, Mary (Robert) Ryan, Beverly Klug; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; sibling: Renee Korbach; numerous other family and friends.

We thank her for the loving memories she gave and shared.
