Viola Sophia Steinbicer, 98 of Woodruff, passed away on Saturday, July 22 at Milestone Living Center in Woodruff. Vi was born on February 7, 1925 in Monroe, the daughter of Peter and Sophia (nee Kopler) Stauffacher. She attended Finch Grade School till 8th grade and graduated from Delavan High School. Vi married Frank M. Steinbicer on June 12, 1948. Prior to her marriage she worked at Borg’s Factory in Delavan.
Vi was active with the United Methodist Women’s Group of Delavan, and the United Methodist Church of the Pines in Minocqua, and a member of the Ester Circle. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, crafts, gardening and playing cards.
Vi is survived by her daughter Sandra (Robert) Bucklew and by grandchildren James J. (Jenny) Bucklew, Amy (Doug) S. Scherf and Steve M. (Missy) Bucklew and by her great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Jeremy, Amanda, Jonathon, Justin, Blaxton, Georgiana Mae Rose, Jordan and Dylan and by great-grandchildren Azarias, Athena, Aislynn and Emilia. Further survived by her siblings Alma Wolff and LeJoy “Pete” Staffacher and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Sophia and by her husband Frank M. Steinbicer and her brother Harold Stauffacher and sisters Lucille, Lauretta, Alvina and Florence.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of the Pines in Minocqua, with a memorial gathering from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at East Delavan Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to United Methodist Church of the Pines and Aspirus Hospice Care, 530 N. 32nd Ave, Wausau, WI 54401 would be appreciated.
