Chester A. “Chet” Andrews Jr., 86 of Minocqua, and formerly of Oak Lawn, Ill. passed away on Thursday, July 6 at his residence with his family by his side. Chet was born on April 5, 1937 in Chicago, the son of Chester and Adele (nee Chmielewsky) Andrews Sr.

He attended Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Evergreen Park, Ill. and St. Rita of Cascia of Chicago. Chet married Carol M. Cassidy on June 10, 1961 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Evergreen Park, Ill.; they just celebrated 62 years of marriage. Chet was an electrical journeyman with IBEW #134 for sixty-plus years. He worked for Super Electric of Chicago and Caaco Electric of Chicago. One of his most treasured jobs was doing the electrical work on the Michael Jordan Statue at the United Center in Chicago.

Chet was an active member of Holy Name Society at St. Catherines of Alexandria Church, Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, the Harmony Club and past president of the Lac du Flambeau Lions Club. He was an avid hunter, loved musky fishing and biking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially the family trip to Colorado and the anniversary trip to Florida. Chet’s work ethic and family comes first attitude will never be forgotten for generations.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Carol and by six children: Mary Ellen Andrews, Patrick F. (Kim) Andrews, Karen Andrews, Margaret Hayley, Kathleen (Tim) Wallensack and Thomas (Megan) Andrews and by 12 grandchildren: Austin, McKenna, Tyler, Casey, Kyle, Cassidy, Quin, Samantha, Will, Jack, E.D. and Finn and by his brother Robert (Evelyn) Andrews and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Adele Andrews Sr., his son Daniel Joseph Andrews and brother James Andrews.

Funeral Mass for Chet will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
