James Scott Larimer, 74, of Woodruff, passed away at his son’s residence in Kelliher, Minn. on August 2 with his family by his side. James, also known as Jim, was born in Geneseo, Ill. on April 3, 1949 to parents Scott and Ethel (Guild) Larimer. He attended JD Darnall High School in Geneseo, Ill. and Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. James proudly served in US Navy. On June 26, 1969, he married Jeannine Watters and together they had two children: Jason and Jodi.

Jim was self-employed; he enjoyed learning new things, looking up articles on the internet, helping others and reading the Bible.

He is survived by his wife Jeannine Larimer, son Jason (Kelly) Larimer, daughter Jodi Larimer, grandchildren Austyn (Jeremiah) Hauschild, Joshua Larimer, Morgan Skiles (Randy Laurich), Tess Skiles, Brandon Davis, and great-grandchildren Zayn and Kylian Hauschild, Camryn and Liam Davis, Taylor Fraikes, Aaron Rhodes and Dakota Laurich, and sister Janet Sigwalt.

James was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Scott Larimer, stepmother Helen Larimer, grandparents Grace and Charles Larimer, Hattie and Frank Guild, and in laws Dr. Charles and Edith Watters.

Visitation for James will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Minocqua Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial donations can go to Bemidji Hospice who were very helpful in James’ last weeks.
