Helen Folwarski, 96, of Mosinee, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Applegate Terrace in Wausau. She was born October 16, 1926, in Peplin, the daughter of the late Walter and Constance (Rutkowski) Andraski. She married Stephen Folwarski on June 15, 1946, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 2015.
Helen was a member of the Peplin VFW Post 8280 Ladies Auxliary, St Monica’s Circle at St Paul’s Church. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.
Spending time with family was very important to Helen. Not a Christmas went by without the family favorite, her homemade cream of mushroom soup and sharing Oplapki (Christmas wafer) with everyone.
Survivors include her three sons, Dennis (Deb) Folwarski, Lake Tomahawk, Dan (Joan) Folwarski, Rib Mountain, and Dale (Michelle) Folwarski, Mosinee; grandchildren, Donna (Dr. Matthew) Groschen, North Branch Minn., Jason Folwarski, Wausau, Laura (Ike) Comfort, Hawaii, Benjamin, Mary Lou and Jackson Folwarski, Mosinee; great-granddaughters, Roisin and Genevieve Groschen, Johanna and Thea Folwarski; sister Bernice Kaye, Park Ridge Ill.; sister-in-law Natalie Andraski, Wausau; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Stephen, Helen was preceded in death by brothers John, Anton, Adam, Louis, Leo and brother-in-law Richard Kaye.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to the St Paul Endowment Fund.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Aaron Becker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
