Harvey Joseph LaBelle
Harvey Joseph LaBelle (JaJa and Brother Ja), 84, of Lac du Flambeau, passed away on September 19, 2022, in Lac du Flambeau. He was born on January 2, 1938, in Lac du Flambeau, the son of Harvey and Mabel (nee Poupart) LaBelle. Harvey was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army for four years until he was honorably discharged. He had a great love for cars, was a reliable mechanic, and worked as a lumberjack a majority of his life. Harvey was a kind-hearted, gentle and honest man. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Deal, Virginia “Ginger” Wadinski, Carol Leszczynski, Muriel Stark and Patricia Komblevicz. Harvey is survived by his sisters, Alice LaBelle, Pauline Phillips and Veronica “Nicki” Burrell and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nephews.
Visitation began. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Veterans Building in Lac du Flambeau, with drumming. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, followed by military honors and burial in Memorial Cemetery, and ended with a feast at the church.
