Carol Ann Jeske (nee Solchenberger) 78, of Minocqua, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 10, after fighting several illnesses. She eventually found her next resting place after a battle with Covid-19 complications affecting her current health issues.
Carol was the daughter of Dorothy and Raymond Eckelberg, born July 24, 1944, in rural Wisconsin. Carol shared her childhood home with her family, through the good times and bad, until she moved to the Milwaukee area with her friends and family.
In her journey, she would eventually find love and marry Mark E. Jeske, also of Milwaukee. They would eventually purchase a home and start a business in Minocqua. Shortly before the move, they welcomed a daughter, Nichole Jeske (Joseph Gertken) and Edward Jeske, named after Mark’s father.
During her time with the family business, Lakeland Auto Body, Carol worked to build and grow the community of small businesses and community compassion in the area. She worked hard to support her family and her friends, both locally and in her hometowns.
Upon her separation from Mark, she worked full time at a local publisher, as a customer service representative at a pet care company, and as an independent seamstress.
Throughout her life, in her free time, Carol enjoyed sharing weekends with her family, both near and far, watching Wisconsin sports with her friends (Go Pack!), and tending her garden, many plants she cared for for many decades.
Carol had a tender, loving heart, though sometimes bore a hard shell that few could brave breaking through. Once you earned her love, it was unwavering and steadfast.
Through her retirement years, she adopted many rescue pets, including Xena, Tom, Jerry, Spike, Willow and eventually Bella, who remains in the care of her devoted son, Edward, whom she saw through the best and worst of times. He loved his mother until the end of the universe, as she did him.
She was preceded in death by her aforementioned mother and father, sisters Helen (Ritter), Wanda, Brenda (Al) Miller and brother Allen (Patty) Solchenberger.
Carol is survived by her daughter, son, and brother, Dale Solchenberger, her nieces Lisa and Laurie, daughters of Dale. Brian Dobson and Amy Jo Anderson. Her family also included Kandis, Warner, Spence, Kathy (Doug) Parish, Kristi (Brenda) Eckelberg, Karina (James) Noll, Kenny, (Debbie) Eckelberg, and Kelly Eckleberg.
Arrangements and services will be forthcoming, depending on who wishes to pay respects and honor Carol in her life, and her journey to the next.
We ask for privacy and understanding during this time. Just as Carol was a complex woman, her passing is just as such.
In lieu of flowers, Nichole and Edward request donations to your favorite animal rescue group, addiction and substance abuse treatment centers, or simply plant a plant in her honor, while you remember the good times.
Online condolences may be shared at www.nimsgernfuneral.com. Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
